[FIXED] Touchpad two finger scroll not working in Windows 10
Having ability to scroll pages and lists with two fingers is amazing. This gives more control and is very efficient also. But today when I switched on my laptop, I found that scrolling feature was not working. I haven’t even updated my windows recently and not even messed up the settings. Nor did I install any new software or application which might have caused this problem. After a bit of research I came to know that this touchpad two finger scroll feature which can be turned on or off from settings itself.
Earlier I thought it was permanently included feature. There are few methods which can solve the problem so I will be discussing the same with you guys here. Now let’s discus the methods to fix the two finger scroll feature of Windows 10 and later versions.
Methods to fix the touchpad two finger scroll feature in Windows 10
Method 1=>Enable/Disable two finger scroll feature
Follow the below steps to Enable/disable the two finger scroll feature:
- Open Control Panel
- Now set view by: Category
- Click on Hardware and Sound
- Now click on Mouse under Device and Printers
- A new Dialogue box will open, click on Device Settings tab
- Click on Settings and a new dialogue box will open
- Now tap on Multi finger tab and check mark the Enable vertical scrolling.
- Lastly click on Ok to save the changes.
You can also type main.cpl and hit enter to directly go to Device Settings of mouse. That’s it. It was as simple as that! Sometimes it can happen that you already had vertical scrolling enabled in the above method but still it’s not working. This can happen if you recently updated the driver manually or automatically by your Operating system. In this case we will roll back to the old driver to see if the feature resumes in action or not.
Method 2=> Roll back to the old driver
- Open Control Panel
- Now set view by: Category
- Click on Hardware and Sound
- Go to Device Manager and then double click on Mice and other pointing devices
- Now right click on Touchpad device (mine is Lenovo pointing device, yours can be Synaptics Pointing Device or any other brand) and click on Properties.
- In the new dialogue box, click on Driver tab and click on Roll back driver
- Finally it will ask for the reason for your roll back, select anyone of the options and click Yes.
If the Roll back driver option is grayed out then this method is not for you. Next method is just opposite of the above method, may be it’s your outdated driver that caused the problem? Why not try updating the touchpad driver?
Method 3=> Update touchpad driver
- In the new dialogue box, under Driver tab click on Update driver
- Now in the next dialogue box, select “Search automatically for updated driver software” or “Browse my computer for driver software” to manually install the driver.
That’s it! If the problem was due to old driver then updating the driver will definitely fix the two finger scroll feature and will start working.
