My lil niece messed up with my laptop recently though nothing serious was done but I noticed one thing that my folders and icons were now showing checkboxes in my Windows 10. Few days back I had green checkmarks on icons and folders (Fixed) and now this. I tried to ignore them but I don’t know why they were very distracting or say it was irritating. I wanted to remove this checkbox from icons and all files as soon as possible. I can select files by pressing the CTRL button and don’t need those ugly checkbox.

You know what, I making up all this sh*t. it’s true that my niece messed up the settings on my laptop but I knew how to fix this within seconds. I was just trying to make the tutorial a bit interesting to read. Anyway, let’s see how we can fix the issue. Follow the below steps to get rid of these checkboxes.

Steps to remove checkbox from icons and folders in windows 10 & 7

  • Goto Start and open Control panel.
  • Open Folder Options (Win 7) or File Explorer Options (Win 10).

  • Now click on the View tab
  • Under view tab, uncheck “Use check boxes to select items”.

  • Click Apply and then Ok to save the changes.

  • Open the File explorer
  • Click on the view tab and uncheck the “Item check boxes”.
  • That’s it!
