There are few methods to achieve our goal but we will discuss the two simplest methods here.
Method 1: Rufus software
Not everyone is techie so we always try to find tools to do our task. There is one such tool called Rufus which makes your Pendrive bootable within seconds.
Download Rufus from here (1MB size).
Open the software and it should look something like the image below.
Now insert your Pendrive.
Your Pendrive name will be shown under the device.
Now select the “MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers” under the partition scheme and target system type.
Under the file system select “NTFS”.
The next step is to select “4096 bytes (default)” under cluster size.
Now select “2 passes” for a device for bad blocks.
Tick on “quick format” and “create a bootable disk using”. Select the option “ISO image” then select the ISO image from your system.
Also, tick on “Create extended label and icon files”.
Finally hit on “start”. This process will take a few minutes to complete after that your Pendrive is ready to use.
*note- change your boot priority to a USB drive from BIOS, without this step your Pendrive won’t boot from Pendrive.
Method 2: Using CMD
Using CMD to create bootable Pendrive:
Click on Start and type “cmd” in the search bar. Right-click on cmd.exe and click on “run as administrator”.
Now type “diskpart” (type all commands without quotes) and hit enter.
Then type “list disk” and hit enter. Here you will see a list of all storage devices connected to your pc and find your Pendrive.
After that type “select disk x”, replace x with the number or letter of your Pendrive.
- Now type “clean” and hit enter.
- Then type “Create partition primary” and hit enter.
- Now type “select partition 1” and hit enter.
- Then type “active” and hit enter.
- Now type “Format fs=ntfs quick” and hit enter.
- Then type “assign” and hit enter.
- Finally, type “exit” and hit enter.
Now your Pendrive is bootable. Just copy the files of your windows and paste it in Pendrive.
*note- don’t copy windows in a single folder and transfer them in Pendrive. Instead copy the files of windows in their original form.
